This new multidisciplinary laboratory studies social cognition and decision-making using dynamic naturalistic stimuli during fMRI, MEG, TMS, and other neuroimaging technologies. Data analyses will be carried out with cutting edge computational methods, including inter-subject synchrony measures and machine-learning approaches. The salaries are internationally competitive. The HSE Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience. The position is focussed on time-resolved neuroimaging techniques, most importantly electro- and magnetoencephalography (EEG, MEG), for research into different aspects of human cognitive, perceptual and motor functions.
The position is focussed on time-resolved neuroimaging techniques, most importantly electro- and magnetoencephalography (EEG, MEG), for research into different aspects of human cognitive, perceptual and motor functions. The postholder will have access to an Elekta Neuromag Vectorview 306-channel MEG system, BrainProducts 128-channel actiCHamp EEG system as well as various EEG, tDCS, TMS, eye-tracking, behavioural and other set-ups and associated equipment. The postholder will have an opportunity to establish and direct an independent research line in close collaboration with the other research groups at the Institute and will have ample support from the HSE to develop EEG/MEG research at the University. The position is research-oriented and implies only a minimum teaching load. The Institute offers cutting-edge research infrastructure, international academic environment, thriving collaborative atmosphere, access to research funding and support, and bright student population. · Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in the field of psychology, neuroscience, physics, engineering or related fields, with a strong publication record in cognitive neuroscience. Applicants with background in any areа of cognitive neuroscience will be considered, with priority given to EEG/MEG.
· Experience in magneto- and/or electroencephalography, including MEG/EEG experimentation, data analysis, source localization methods, statistical analysis etc., is highly desirable.
· ·Evidence of relevant teaching experience and supervision skills (particularly at postgraduate level), as well as a record of external grant funding, will be appreciated.
· Candidates should be fluent in English and have a strong record of international peer-review publications. Knowledge of Russian is not required as research and teaching are conducted in English, the main working language of the Institute.
The postholder is expected to carry out the following duties:
· develop and pursue an independent research agenda in the area of the call;
· publish in international peer-reviewed journals;
· develop collaborations within ICN, nationally and internationally, including world-leading MEG centers;
· coordinate experimental work studies and EEG/MEG training in ICN;
· attract extramural research funding to further support their research;
· supervise Master and PhD students;
· contribute to the overall ICN research and function.
Tenure track positions are only available on a full-time, residential basis.
Overall, appointments are usually made for an initial three-year period (starting September 2020) and, upon successful completion of an interim review, contracts are normally extended for a further three years followed by a tenure review.
